Design and calculation of composite materials FIBRIS

Structural composite materials reinforced with FIBRIS

Use the following sectors:

·    Characterization and modeling of composite materials;
·    Reinforced concrete: the use of external and internal FRP reinforcement;
·    Concrete wires and cables: the use of rods, strands and cables FRP;
·    Structural profiles: profiles of FRP frame structures;
·    Structural Systems: the use of FRP materials for structural joint sets;
·    Recovery Systems: the use of FRP reinforcement, restoration, etc..;
·    Structural reinforcement in the areas of geotechnical and excavation.
Description FRP

     FRP and 'stands for Fiber Reinforced Polymers used to describe a large class of composite materials that constitute the frontier of the technology costruizioni. They are made from polymer matrices in which are immersed reinforcements of fibers woven or unidirectional. Their use in the field of aircraft construction continues with great success. Currently, the revolutionary aircraft Centurion takes its first test flights, it combines light weight and aerodynamic efficiency, and like its predecessor, the Pathfinder has a structure made entirely of composite materials (carbon fiber and kevlar) coated with a protective film. The Centurion reaches the stratosphere with engines that develop very small powers.

In civil engineering the promising use of FRP covers three main categories of functions:
    1) all-composite structure (beams, panels, shells)
    2) reinforcement of traditional materials such as concrete, masonry and wood,
    3) reinforcement of the existing structural elements of various types and material
